Bug screens for central/eastern US July travel?

It's been a while but I can remember picking up lot of bugs on my car. I'm driving from CA to southern US, and following Mississippi River north and then on to Ohio. Do you guys who travel in this...

Thanks to all for the good info. It appears that people living in the area are not using bug screens extensively and I won't use one either. Maybe roll up some screen material and carry it for emergency if I get in buggy area.
