Met a guy this summer in the Sierras with a Crown 1967 skoolie conversion. He bought it half done but was a former shop teacher for a high school and junior college. It was very nice, highly reliable.. had an old school mechanical Cummins side mounted engine. It was clear after talking with him the bus was a real hobby and source of pride. He bought it from a older gent who had chugged away for years on it until his health declined.
If you're this type, go for it. If not, steering clear is probably best.
