I used to be a maintenance supervisor for a fleet of school buses for a school district years ago.. Most states have a rule where you can run the buses for ten years on a regular route and for another two years as a spare.. And then they must be replaced.. The reason is because these buses usually run in the worst weather, and most school routes are 20-25 miles long and back to the shed.. The miles don't add up fast but they are run hard during that 2 hour run.. As for running out on the highway, the newer diesel school buses are not a problem, however after they have done their time as a school bus in service for over ten years, I would not bother converting it into a RV...
