Buying a used tire to carry as a spare?
My tires are 275/80R 22.5 Michilen. I'm considering buying a used tire to carry as a spare. I know a newer date would be great and the same make tire, but I'm assuming that will be hard to come ...

Another reason it may be a good idea to carry a spare is so that you are not at the mercy of the tire dealer and whatever price he wants to charge for the tire that he brings to you.
I had a flat tire a couple of years ago and the RSA tire service wanted to charge me over $700 for the tire. I had them come out and look at the tire(nail puncture). Luckily they were able to patch it and I was on my way. When I replace all my tires next year, I will keep an inside dual for a spare(unmounted).
