I think a bit like you. That should scare you. By that I mean that we (my Angel and I), currently, do weekend and 2 weeks in the summer vacations. We have done trailer and low end entry MH. Well we decided to take the plunge and look for our retirement rig. Much of our thought was like yours, it would be ready for retirement as well as more enjoyment in our current travels.
We looked at but decided that we were not going to do diesel. We do not ever intend to full time. We will likely do extended part time. We decided on a Tiffin Allegro 36LA, by shopping around and understanding the market. Tiffin builds a very good product and takes very good care of it's customers.
We finally decided that we would own our MH for 20 years. Can't afford to keep replacing it every 2-5 years. Glad some can but we just cannot. We had enough to put half down and will pay it off early. We made sure that it would not impact our nest egg growth and retirement plans. We went for it and are enjoying our retirement rig today. I will retire in about 5 years.
