Whether you buy something for $5,000 and have $6,000 for repairs, or spend the entire $11,000 for a motor home, probably won't make much of a difference in the possibility of having a breakdown. Either amount is going to get you an older RV.
With that budget you would probably be better off towing a pop up camper, or small travel trailer, assuming you had a reliable tow vehicle.
