Apparently the threads can be damaged when the originals are removed and the new ones can't hold properly so they blow out. There were a number of fixes for this depending on the year of your engine. Ours was close to the end of the problem at 2002. I believe that Ford mechanics have special tools now that make this damage less likely to happen.
