How much of a discount should you get off MSRP when buying a new RV? 30%?

20-25% for sure, some do better.

It depends...We got a little better than 25% on ours.... BUT, the same dealer did not want to even make a similar deal a couple months earlier and even a year earlier. A lot will depend on the dealer and when they want to sell something.

Compare one dealer to another even if it is out of state. My concern is the warranties they will offer, read v e r y carefully if you decide to buy one. Comments posted here have shown some plans are riddled with important exclusions. I do not purchase warranties for anything. Good luck and take your time.

I got very close to 30 percent on a new class c. I called about 10 dealers all over the country trying to get a lower price. Every time I got a lower price I'd call the other dealers tell them the price and see what they would offer me. Eventually they all started saying they couldn't go any lower and were all quoting me similar prices. Then I took that price to my local dealer he beat it by a little and I bought from him. It's a little bit of work but I do that with cars, and my motorcycles too. Seems to work for me.

It varies by dealer, brand, model, time of the year and current local and national market conditions. You and whoever is with you must not show anxiousness to buy, they will try to size you up as knowledgeable or noobs.Offices are often "bugged". Most extended warranties are full of loopholes and exclusions and do not take effect until the chassis, housebox and appliance warranties run out. Be ready to walk but leave your phone number. Getting your best deal may require further discussions/visits. Dealer's reputation for quick and professional repairs of factory defects is very important, try to contact recent buyers and ask about their experience with after sale fixes. Get any promises about fixes in writing on the sales contract. Poor after sale treatment can ruin the fun of buying a new rig.
