The strategy I used to purchase our 2016 Sightseer was to contact Winnebago dealers by email. I contacted Lichtsinn RV, and several local RV dealers. Lichtsinn RV is about one mile from the Winnebago RV factory in Forest City, Iowa.
I sent all of the dealers that I selected my pick sheet that had the options I wanted on our new coach. I asked for a price for the RV as described on the pick sheet. We were ordering our coach from Winnebago with the colors and options that we wanted. It took Winnebago about four months to build our coach.
Without revealing who was bidding I would reply to the higher bids with the lowest bid. I continued this process till I reached a bid that was 21% below manufacturer's suggested cost. I stopped because my back went out and I was in a great amount of pain. I believe that there was a few more percentage points remaining for bargaining but I was in too much pain. And I didn't select Lichtsinn because I could not drive my new coach home from Iowa in so much pain.
It all worked out. My back is doing fine and I love our new coach.
