Camper slides and tornados

A tornado is not like a head on wind. It will just lift a "camper" (any RV!) off the ground and plop it down where ever it wants.

And best to get out of a RV and into a proper storm shelter if a tornado has been sited.

There is a Tornado Alert App and a Red Cross Tornado Alert Mobile App for cell phones. Both will alert you of a tornado in your immediate area. You can find it on the Google App Store.

Forget your slides get into a substantial structure.

There is no good way to ride out a tornado in an RV.

Good, but the 'worst' being a real tornado, you won't stand a chance.

Slides in, jacks up, water tank full. Then run to the shelter.

Head on up to West Michigan, cold as heck here but no tornado :)

Not only that, but the slide introduces more weight to the side it extends from, making the RV more susceptible to tip over.

I use this site http://radar.weather.gov/ to track storms in my area. They only show rain or other precipitation but it's a good indicator of where and when a storm is going to hit. We also have a storm warning radio but it is a bit too general for me, sometimes I'll get an alert after the storm has hit!!

Good luck. Hopefully there is a building nearby that can be used as a storm shelter, if the worst happens.
