This is more of a Class B problem, than a Class A, or trailer problem. Class B people have to take their RV's with them when they want to go hiking, go to dinner, etc. They sometimes leave things in their site, not expecting them to be stolen. Obviously, from some of the posts here, that is a big mistake, and their idiots for doing it, and deserve to have their stuff taken. Maybe the thiefs think they are doing them a favor and teaching them a lesson.
At least give the campers a day to come back before the free-for-all begins. Otherwise you're just a low down dirty thief.
Now we are getting somewhere as to why this happens. Your idea to give them a day assumes the offender knows when they left. It also assumes they knew they were in a Class B vs. any other type RV.
All the offender knows is that there are a pair of chocks laying on a site.In their mind someone forgot to take their stuff.
More than once I have arrived at a site and began setting up and have found things that previous campers have left behind...It does happen.
I'm not justifying the actions. I'm just trying to show how and why it happens.
