Camping at NASCAR Kansas City

We're planning to be in the Kansas City area during the October NASCAR race. Could sure use some recommendations for where to camp and if there are any ADA designated areas? or preferred spaces close to the tram stops? or maybe golf cart service, etc.etc.

  • Be advised, the Bonner Springs campground is in disarray right now and has lost a considerable amount of land area because of a new I-70, K-7/US 73 interchange being built through what was their property. I think it's still minimally open though.

    Ah, eminent domain strikes again......
  • We live in Kc and attend the NASCAR race. As stated they have camping on site outside the track with tram service. Call the speedway for that. Also the campground in bonner springs is close. There is also one in Merriam KS, called walnut grove. We stayed there for a year while our house was being built. Small place with some permanent residents.

Funny while we were there we left on nascar weekends and told them they could rent our spot. They said that was the first time that ever happened!

Let me know if I can help with anything else.
  • No trams at kansas speedway they do have some camping spots outside speedway but on the grounds and some in the infield other than that the closet campground is cottonwood in bonner springs ks which is about 5 miles west from the speedway like someone posted call the track office during the week
  • Yes I have been on the web site just hoping to get some local knowledge. The track office workers sometimes don't understand motor homes or what's best for retired folks.
I've been to a few tracks and some just seem to have one camp area or another that are a little better for our limited mobility.
  • Haven't been to that speedway yet although all the others have websites which show parking camping reservations etc. Also you can call the track office if the website does not have info you are looking for hope this helps Good luck and enjoy the race
