Holstein13, since you 'edited' your post a couple above. Our current coach is a nice coach that is fairly smooth. I noticed a little dimpling where the bay door latches attach to the bay door. And, in the right light and angle, you can see a little bit of waving in the fiberglass but it looks really good though. All fiberglass coaches that I have seen have a little waving in the fiberglass, especially where a vent or latch is installed. It doesn't mean anything is wrong with it, but the material that Prevost uses is top quality.
Now, our fiberglass is in excellent condition and the coating is still shiny. But, if you look at a Prevost, it looks like a solid metal surface but it's not, it's Kevlar. BTW, I know nothing about boats or the way they are manufactured.
When you hear the way a Prevost bay door closes, it's solid including the main door. Now, I know the Newmar is solid too, it's should be at almost a million dollar MSRP! I would think a Newmar King Air would have a higher quality of material used vs. a lesser priced coach. The King Air that I saw while in Traverse City, MI, this past summer was awesome. That same weekend, the Essex that was also on display sold. I think they MSRP at about $700K+.
I'm really not trying to compare Prevost vs. Newmar or any other coach. When it was time for us to change coaches, I thought long and hard about what we would want and I wanted the next one to last us 20 yrs. When I bought our Dynasty, I always read to buy your 3rd motorhome first and that's what we did and it has been great for the last 7 yrs. Now, I want to move up that's why I looked at the King Air. Then, I thought, why not go all the way up to a Prevost and make it our last coach. So, that's what we did.
On the Prevost tag... it 'releases' but doesn't lift all the way. It does not steer like on the Newell. It releases so it doesn't drag but still carries some weight. Our Prevost with four slides will weigh about 54,000 lbs. Coaches in this weight range have air leveling, no hydraulics. The wheel hubs are just the same as the front design, the tires are at the same 'edge' as the drive axle as I remember.
