I'm not an expert by any means, but I believe the axle would have more weight carrying capacity when it's matched to the steer axle. That doesn't mean that the manufacturer actually raises the weight rating though. Sound like both the king air and the prevost has the same 14k from what the OP stated. The wheel cannot be simple flipped around and be mounted the other way. I don't think it works that way. The wheel bearing orientation would not allow it, and I'm not sure how the hub is mounted to the wheel whether it's on center of the wheel or offset. If it is offset, then the axle must be shortened or extended. I think County Coach has the tag flipped like the Prevost has also. I'm sure there are a couple of different reasons why it's that way, and I'm guessing one popular one is that you can interchange the tag wheel/tire combo with the steer wheel/tire combo without physically dismounting the tire.
