Hi Ol Yeller,
Our experience;
We had a Jayco 23RK class c motorhome. My wife would drive it but was not comfortable doing it. Only drove on the freeway away from towns...sort of open road type driving with light traffic.
We traded for a Winnebago Aspect 26A class B+ motorhome. My wife is much more comfortable with this motorhome. It is 7in narrower (7ft 11in) and at least 1ft less tall at 10ft 6in. Since it is narrower it makes her much less apprehensive because we don't take up so much of the lane. The B+ drives much nicer. Less impact with wind and passing trucks. She will be sharing the driving much more now. We did not need to add any expensive upgrades to the suspension (it came with air bags on the rear) and it drives very nice.
You might want to look at some B+ motorhomes and perhaps take a few for a test spin to see how your wife feels behind the wheel.
We both have our medicare cards so we are mature RV types. We have the corner bed which works for us as we use a sleeping bag type bedding which has a velcro'd sheet inside. Its easy to make the bed and we don't have any trouble getting in and out. However, at our size (26ft) the bed it is not queensize. The bathroom is compact ;-).
The Holiday Rambler B+ seemed to have a bit larger bathroom in this size.
You might want to check out some of the B+ units in the 25 to 27ft range.
