I bought a 2002 Fleetwood Southwind 32V on an F53 Ford V10 chassis.
Then we took off for Tennessee, towing the PT Cruiser on a dolly.
Three weeks later, we were home again.
No problems.
I got the towbar set up on the Dodge truck, and took off over the Continental Divide. Two weeks later, I was home.
Again, no problems.
Would I have been more comfortable or had better reliability in a $150,000 coach than I was in a $39,000 coach? I really don't think so.
Think long and hard about the floor plan. THAT is the most important consideration, IMO. When the weather goes bad (and it will, sooner or later), will you and your family be able to spend 20+ hours a day in there without wanting to beat somebody up? When somebody is in bed during the day, will you be able to get to the bathroom? Can you access the kitchen appliances if the slides are in? Can you turn the bedroom speakers off so you can listen to the stereo when somebody is in bed?
The chassis just has to get you there and back. You will be LIVING in the coach! Make sure it is comfortable for YOU!
Good luck.
