We have rented from time to time as we do not tow. Most of the time it worked out well. One time we were planning on renting but lo and behold there were no rental agencies in the nearby town, only one and only one cab.
When we are only going a short distance the wife will drive a car for us to use. We did find this quite handy one time. We were at our local state park just 20 miles away but ended up having to have the MH towed. Having the car was a good thing.
For the most part, having a car in tow out weighs not.
