Just last night four of my neighbors lost all of their aluminum alloys rims to druggies. They got a total of 16 alloy rims/tires in probably 15-20 minutes total time.
I have a problem with the buyers of this kind of stolen metal. Someone showing up with 100 cats or 16 alloy rims to sell for scrap with no wrecking yard business should be a red flag with a spot light shining on it.
Saw a builder with a load of ladders/ladder boards and I asked why so many. He said he was down at a scrap buyer yard and got them for a little over scrap price. He had to expect they were stolen.
