1. Against Federal Law. Up to $10,000 in fines
2. Against state law. No smog clearance until replaced. (In states with smog.)
3 Could hurt your engine
4. Will add lots of pollution
You might want to rethink the idea of bypassing the catalytic converter.
Maybe find a storage yard with better security? It will be a lot cheaper in the long run, This time it was the converter, next time it could be a break in to coach, with damage and loss.
