caterpillar engine swap
hi all,has anyone here removed there c7 or c9 and replaced with c12 ? i have a c12 engine and transmission. any wiring problems etc ? class a class a freightliner chasis

- Have not done on yours but, wiring that is for the new engine. Pumps, coolers, Radiator, brackets, drive shaft you will have to buy or make up. If it has a AC compressor then that and mounting brackets also. Hopefully you have a side mount Radiator since I think the C12 one is a lot thicker and bigger. If not you might not have room.
I helped on a Wonderlodge so I can tell you it was a lot of work. But had the complete engine and all the wiring. He have to have the computer flashed work due to the shifter. Took several months. He had to have stuff made to mount the larger radiator and fan pump and he had a side mount.
He has a shop with all the equiptment so just his time to make things and weld up. Good luck.
Also you might have to cut the back cap if you do not have panel that can come off to change the engine. A lot more weight. Do you have a 43/45 foot.
