I mount mine on the ladder when it's needed....I run the wire down to the engine cover and through one of the slats and into the bedroom through the engine hatch. Easy install and no drilling, so no leaks. I made an extension our of 3/4 PVC with a plug installed in the top. I tapped the plug so the antenna can screw into the PVC then I hold it in place with some bungees. Most of the time the antenna is not necessary but it's there if I do. Also, if you use the smaller 18" antenna with the magnetic base, put it on a cookie sheet. I slide mine under the engine and run the cable up the same as above.....good luck...Dennis
