Charging inverter batteries off the alternator

I had this problem and cured it in a very simple way. I hooked up a set of jumper cables from the house batteries to the chassis batteries while driving and un-hook them when not moving. Problem somewhat over. I had returned my inverter 3 times without success and the only thing I needed it for was to charge the batteries----it is now disconnected.
