Chassis Battery Isolator switch not activating Chassis

Hello I have 92' Class A Diesel Pusher American Eagle on a Spartan Chassis. My Chassis Batteries won't engage at the Isolator Switch in the Main Cabin. Checked Batteries and all battery connections and everything looks good from the standpoint of Charged Batteries and Cabling. The Isolator Switch is located in a Cabinet and controls the Coach Batteries as well. The switch contains two buttons for both Chassis and Coach. The Coach side engages as it should and I can here it click on the Intellitec Battery Distribution Box which is located adjacent to the Battery Compartment in the outside right rear of the Rig. However, the Chassis side of the Switch doesn't illuminate nor do I get the clicking sound from the Battery Box as I do with the pressing the Coach Side. Is there some next steps in troubleshooting this issue? Any help would be appreciated. TY
  • Thank You Guys I will start the Troubleshooting based on your feedback. Will be back with my findings soon. Many Thx.
  • check for a battery shutoff switch in the engine compartment above the coolant surge tank, on the driver side, my 94 am eagle has one there
  • On my 94 Bounder diesel pusher there are two solenoids in an electrical box inside the battery compartment. They are the units that connect and disconnect coach and chassis batteries when the switches are pushed inside the coach. There may be a problem with that if yours is similar.
  • My Intellitec manual says
    1) Ignition switch is on. Check to be sure the switched-ignition voltage is zero
2)interlock relay is faulty. Check plug J2, check for 12 volt power feeding switch, at plug J2 pin 8
No 12 volt power to switch, if there is no 12 volts, check Fuse F19.
This is from old Intelltec manual. Not sure if will help but could be blown fuse 19 in battery control center. It is shown as power to the coach battery disconnect.
  • Hi,

Relays are not forever, especially if they are switched under load. There may be burned contacts in the relay. Try jumpering around it and see if power is restored.
