I was reading up on 12 volt DC power supplies for various brands of CPAP machines last night. There are some brands that use a proprietary connector to plug into the CPAP machine forcing you to use their accessory battery connector cable. Using a Radio Shack, etc., cable connector can cause arcing and damage some CPAP machines. People who use optional heated humidifiers with their CPAP machines usually have to use an inverter/converter with their machine which draws considerably more current than the CPAP machine alone needing larger battery capacity/more frequent recharging. A heated humidifier provides some people more comfortable use. I have never used one in some 14 years and am comfortable without it. Humidifiers need filling with distilled water and periodic cleaning. BTW, there are a lot of You Tube videos about various brands of CPAP machines, masks and humidifiers and how to use them . Also the CPAP supplier websites contain a lot of useful, sometimes confusing, information. I am involved in transferring from Americare to another CPAP supplier due to recent Obama/Medicare regulation changes.
