I think the biggest problem in all of this is the small diameter hose to the tank, that all started back about '75 when we went to unleaded gas.
Back then they made the fuel filler opening smaller and the gas pump nozzle smaller so vehicles that ran on unleaded gas could not get the larger nozzle in.
Now everything runs on unleaded so they should go back to the larger nozzle or larger fuel lines to the tank, that would solve the problem.
For the most part , the hose to that tank stayed the same , they put in that extra flat piece with the reduced size hole for the smaller unleaded fuel pump nozzles in the filler neck.
And if a person had made that hole bigger it was an automatic smog test failure at least here in Ca.
Then some hairbrained bonehead designing these coaches decided "Hey we can put a tiny ide bidi filler hose to the fuel tank for more room for "fill in blank ___________" !
We won't be filling the fuel tank somebody else will !
I'd like to meet the idiot that designed these. Its like putting 10lbs of %$#^ in a 5 lb bag trying to fill the tank each time ! - IAMICHABODExplorer III think the biggest problem in all of this is the small diameter hose to the tank, that all started back about '75 when we went to unleaded gas.

I can only fill up at the rate of about a gallon a minute. In CT where I live I have very little issue. It seems to be able to fill at a decent rate. But in VA SC FL I had issues. Is it possible that the gas nozzles are different. I did hear that some nozzles are vented. Not sure.
- OFDPOSExplorerCrawled underneath today checking , pulled , tugged , squeezed etc. No kinks, no droops/hanging down hoses , just a plain "ONE INCH" diameter filler hose unbelievable !! From nozzle input to top of tank is a One Inch dia hose it goes into what looks like to be 1.5 diameter hose then elbow's into top of tank and its not kinked ,flattened...
I still cannot they let these out of the plant equipped like that !!! - Dusty_RExplorer

I had the same problem on my 'C' on a Ford Chassis. The filler tube is too small to take gas at 'full open' because the gas rises up in the filler tube and shuts the pump off. So I don't push the nozzle all the way in and don't lock the lever all the way open. It gives me a chance to use their bathroom facilities instead of mine. :)
Most places it's posted that someone must keep the nozzle in sight at all times while filling. - tenbearExplorerMy 2005 Four Winds on a Chevy chassis has never given me a problem filling the gas tank. Must be something that is somehow out of place in yours.
- 4x4vanExplorer IIIOn my 27' class C, the filler cap is all the way at the rear, but the filler hose then goes forward almost level to just behind the rear axle where it finally dumps into the tank. If I am nose high AT ALL, I cannot fill. However, last year, it suddenly started giving me problems even when level. Turns out that the vent line had come loose from it's "mounts" and was hanging so that the middle section was lower than the fuel filler line. That was the problem; any fuel in that vent line would block it and not allow the tank to vent as I was fueling.
Reattached the vent line above the larger fill line, and all was good, although I still can't fuel if I'm nose-high. I have had to get out my leveling blocks and raise the left rear corner a few times in order to fill depending on the station's layout. - IAMICHABODExplorer III have that problem every so often and I thought it was the filler tube, but here in Calif. we have those vapor recovery boots and I have found that is the problem around here. They get worn and don't work right, making it a pain to fill up.
I just finished a trip with 5 fueling stops. All the new places, like the Costcos I used all worked just fine, click it on and wait, just did it today,no problem. The older places not so much. - OFDPOSExplorerEven on the first click of the nozzle it will click off, I have to stand there and hold the nozzle BARELY open.
Just saying 8 minutes doesn't sound long at all . Look at your watch/clock , now stand up and just stand there doing absolutely nothing for a full 8 minutes.
I may try putting a couple blocks under the tires next time I fill up to see if that helps ! - Jim_ShoeExplorerI had the same problem on my 'C' on a Ford Chassis.
