I think the biggest problem in all of this is the small diameter hose to the tank,that all started back about '75 when we went to unleaded gas.
Back then they made the fuel filler opening smaller and the gas pump nozzle smaller so vehicles that ran on unleaded gas could not get the larger nozzle in.
Now everything runs on unleaded so they should go back to the larger nozzle or larger fuel lines to the tank, that would solve the problem.
