Class A DP door opinions??

Good points. We thought we HAD to mid cabin---Now thinking more

It can rain a lot down here in the summer. Having a mid door keeps the door under the awning and on the pad where it should be. You lose the second couch but you gain the front captains chairs as usable seating when parked. There are plusses and minuses to each but keeping that door under the awning is a big plus to me.

If we ever get another d.p. I want a mid entry. Preferably a Newell. Dream big.

I've never owned a Dp so my opinion falls somewhere between "FWIW" and Worthless, but here goes; I never thought I would like having to walk around the passenger seat (which is typically slid back a few feet) to get to the door in the front of the coach. I mean I don't put a chair in front of my door in the house. Seems cumbersome, and loading/unloading has to be more of an issue. Then there is safety. Seems like putting the door mid coach is a better proximity to everyone rather than having it in the furthest position from the bedroom as possible. If there were any type of emergency the door seems to be at the most illogical place. I also always thought about the outdoor living space and it seems it makes more sense to access the patio area right outside the door than having to walk to the front. Just me, but if I ever get in a position to own a DP I would look for a mid coach door.

We looked at several DP MoHo's when moving from gas and decided on a Rexhall DP with the mid-entry. We LOVE it!! The DP is so much more quiet while on the road and the mid-entry is fine when camping as it opens to the Kitchen area on the left (with groceries) or the Living area on the right (with guests arriving). It is a single slide and while we have looked at newer and more fancy rigs, none has more than what we have - except perhaps a few gee-gaws and 'extras'. It is all about what you enjoy and can afford. (I know there are those that will disagree, but no matter the price range, nearly all MoHo's have: 1-a driving position, 2-a co-pilot position, one or more guest chairs with seat belts, 3-a sofa that makes into a bed, 4-a Kitchen with fridge/freezer, stove, microwave and pantry/storage, 5-Toilet and Shower (some with small tub), 6-main bed and clothes storage. Oh, and of course, the engine, generator and external storage and services (water/black & Grey tanks & disposal)) NOW...the only question is how fancy and how much of each!! OH - and FWIW, the lack of a driver door would be a deal-breaker for me!! JMHO!!!

I prefer the bus style as the space is shared with the passenger leg area and hence frees up other wall space. The center of the coach in the front is gen space and the DS space is a locker. Good use of space in my opinion.

Loss basement space for a mid door would be a deal breaker for me.

We have the bus door as there was not a choice in our coach floorplan offerings. But, we have been looking lately at new coaches (bought one) and one that was on the top of the list was the Newell coach. They offer bus or mid entry doors. The mid entry looked really tempting and I still like it.

One thing to consider is that you not only lose cabinet space, you also lose basement space too. The 'new' basement space in the front is not the same as in the mid compartment. Still, the mid door is nice if it works for you.

We decided to go with a bus conversion that offers only the front door. One thing I like about a Prevost is that you don't have steps that come out. The door is situated in that it is lower on the chassis. All the steps are inside.

Our current coach has two steps that pop out. They have gotten caught a few times on a curb or high spot at a campsite. It never broke the steps but it always bothered me when they got jammed.

One type of step that I would NOT want is the type that the face of the first step will tuck under to make a step. Newell does this as does Foretravel and the top of the line Newmar's. It would be so easy to damage that nice paint job or stainless steal cover as it scrapes on a high spot.

Probably a mid door Newell would not have a problem scraping the step as RV lots are usually fairly flat in the middle of the coach. I cannot tell you how many times our front steps have dragged on a fairly level spot when leveling the coach. When the front had to lower to level, it caused the steps to scrape the hump and either stop not go out at all.

We prefer the mid entry and that is what we have.

We found that when your loading and unloading every other weekend or so, it becomes a real pain maneuvering around the big chairs up front all the time. Also find the mid to be a bit more confinement when set up in camp as well.

All comes down to how your going to use it and what is important in your floor plan. It is great that there are so many options out there!

What we "prefer" is really irrelevant...the majority of diesels are bus type, door in front.
