I have been researching and test driving gas and diesel MH's. My conclusion is both the 8.1 and V-10 were similar in performance. Both 35 ft MH's took 16 sec to go from 40-60 mph on a flat slab. The Ford was higher revving and slightly more noise. Ford chassis seems rougher that the Chevy. The W-22 chassis seemed like a smother ride than the W-24. Test drove several DP's for comparison. Both gas MH's were faster from 40-60 mpgs that the two 40 ft DP's tested (20-22 secs). From talking to various owners Chevy gets slightly better MPG's in the same weight/size MH. My conclusion is either chassis will work if 2006 or newer. For older models I would go with the higher HP. If I was going to use the Ford for a lot of hill climbing I would install an extra layer of insulation in the dog house. I did this on my current MH and it made a huge difference in noise and heat reduction. These are just my observations, and am still looking myself.
