On a summer road trip in Alaska and the Yukon, it's pretty common to see one or more of these a day. All kinds of brands, with Man, Mercedes and Volvo chassis being quite popular. I got to spend an interesting night, drinking beer around a campfire, with a Frenchman who had his on it's sixth major worldwide journey. He had started in South American, drove to the southern tip of the continent, and was in Dawson City,in the Yukon, heading for Dead Horse AK. He was then heading back across the lower 48 to the port of Baltimore, to catch a ship back to Europe.
All of the Expedition Class C manufacturers here started like that. Usually covering, Africa, Asia, China US and South America
