Another plus for us is the 55 gallon tank(500 miles of driving with a 50 mile cushion), which enables us to just keep driving if the price is more obscene than usual. I topped up in Yuma on my way to San Diego and even with a week of running around town I should be able to make it back to Arizona before buying fuel again. The difference, even on the border at Yuma is about 50-60 cents a gallon. If I run low I'll just add 10 gallons to get me back to AZ. :C
That is a plus. Combine that with a gas price app and you have a good way to avoid the high priced gas (I'm talking to you, Needles, CA!).
Interestingly it is the reverse when I take my bike. It's a Harley and at highway speeds I can't go very far before needing to refuel. And out here in the desert that often means stopping at anyplace that has fuel. This and needing super unleaded often makes the gas mileage not what you might think on a bike.
