Class C generator access

Not sure if this is the right place to post this or not but since it is specific to class c's, how hard is it to service/change oil on the class c generators? It looks like they would be hard to get to. Anybody make one that drops down or maybe slides out?

  • Our Onan is under also. No cover plate as explained above, just a hole in the
metal it sits on to access the drain plug. Very easy to do.

  • The Onan gen. on my TC has a drain plug on the bottom, under the camper, it's no harder than draining the oil from a car.
Or, you could use an oil change pump. Many people with boats use these to change their oil since it's very difficult to get a drain pan under a boat engine. The pump uses vacuum to suck the oil out the dip stick tube.
  • On my Onan Model 4KYFA26100K generator the oil is drained from underneath. There is an oval shaped cover held in place by two torx screws. Remove one screw and loosen the other, move the cover aside and there is a brass oil drain plug inside.
