Rear bedroom/RV queen bed for two adults, overhead for kids or converitible dinette/coouch. Adequate rear lighted storage space with access on 3 sides.Included spare wheel and tire mounted in storage space. Rig needs to be at least 27 feet long, bumper to bumper, for adequate interior cabinet space. Ours is a Fleetwood Tioga 26 Q model not made since 2009(?) other brands have similar lengths/floorplans. Whatever you buy must fit your driveway. Slides are nice but can have mechanical/electrical/water leak problems. Models with no front window on the overhead won't leak there.
If you buy used, try to buy a rig that is no older than 3 years old (with everything working properly). Tires that are five years old by date codes, need to be replaced regardless of looks, etc. Get independant estimates for anything needed to be replaced, repaired or upgraded. Most rigs use the same brands of appliances, roof A/C, furnaces, RV generators and water heaters.
Our roof AC unit and fridge needed replacement after about 10 years of frequent use. House batteries and the converter/charger may also need replacement at about 10 years or less. Modern converter/chargers such as Progressive Dynamics PD 9245 are better at maintaining house batteries batteries than older types. You must maintain electrolyte levels in batteries. RV generators need to be run often to start and run properly when you need them. Drive your rig often for the health of the tires and engine and transmission seals, etc. Best to have AC power available in your driveway or storage place to hook up to and maintain house batteries. Using a smart trickle charger on the staring battery is a good idea, Most RV's have no provision for charging the starting battery from the converter/charger on shore power. RV converter chargers are slow chargers and require hours to recharge discharged house batteries. The engine alternator charges the staring battery and house battery fairly quickly while driving for some distance.
