It also comes down to subtle matters of pure RV usage-style preference, like .... we always want to have our home with us for maximum flexibility. We may camp one place and then find ourselves 100-200 miles away at the end of the day due to wondering about looking for, relaxing in, and maybe boondock camping in rock hound areas or sight-seeing areas. We can't count on being able to, or wanting to, drive back to a big box to sleep in after a day of activities.
We also have another subtle hangup preference in RV type ... we don't feel secure in dragging around a big thing behind us. There's too much that can go wrong from a safety viewpoint - both imagined and real. Also, why have two (2) moving things that need to be kept in top shape and looked after instead of only one(1)? To us, a (small) Class C with no slides eliminates a lot of complications in an American life-style that is already over the top in it's overall level of complexity. I guess you have to be retired in America to come to that kind of a conclusion. Besides, our retirement stick-house is small and easy to maintain ... so why not the same situation with our RV? :)
