Well, lets see...
We've had four travel trailers, and two motorhomes. A great deal of the "which is better for us" were determined by our age and financial situation. :D
The first trailer was a popup and could be pulled with the vehicle that we had at the time. All of the trailers after that required a truck.
The last trailer that we had required the purchase of a strong tow vehicle. So we got the trailer new, and purchased a new F150... the combined cost was a bit more than the new Class C that we have now.
We have decided that (for us), the class C is the only way to go...
1. We never have to get out in a questionable area when we need a rest stop. We have the potty, food & drink, nap time, etc. right there with us.
2. Its much easier to maneuver around in a gas station, store parking lot, or even just getting around in an unfamiliar area.
3. Setting up is a breeze in a Class C (at our age, hooking and unhooking was getting to be a chore).
4. Tourist area parking lots are a lot easier to get around in when you're not towing (when you see a place along the way, and make an impulse stop).
And, finally, it's such a comfortable way to travel! The wife (and the dogs) can get up and stretch and move around without stopping and going back to the trailer.
When we get where we're going, we just call Enterprise, and they come out to the campground and pick us up, and we drive the rental from there. At less than a hundred bucks a week, its MUCH less expensive to get a rental than to buy and maintain a toad.
So, it's all what best fits your lifestyle! For us, with the ease and comfort of traveling in the motorhome, we just can't imagine going back to towing (it always seems to be raining when we get to the campground)! :( That's where the not having to do any set-up comes in handy, just pull in to the site, start the generator, and relax till the rain stops!
Whatever you decide, enjoy and be safe!!
