Class C with a compartment where sewer hose can be left

I am handicapped and if I have to get down low to hook up a sewer hose I can't get back up without help. I had a macerator installed on my Roadtrek and I can dump everything from my walker. When I had my '03 Mountain aire there was a seperate compartment for water & sewer connection. That worked great until I am left alone and didn't need that large of motorhome.
  • I am not clear what your question is. If you asking..is there a self-contained sewer set up in a C..yes, some of the new C+'s have them. Or maybe they are the B+'s. Pretty slick....but then...how do you get up into it?

I have no experience with them...only have seen them in use at sani-dumps.

  • If you can bend down to kneel. A garden kneeler will work for you.

It has high side rails for you to use to assist you to get back up. AND it folds completely flat to fit in an RV storage bay. I keep one on board the MH all the time. It really makes getting back up painless and easy!

I've used them. Even if you have no disabilites this IMHO is a must if you have to go low for sewer hookups! Bonus is you flip it over and its a bench for higher tasks while you are sitting.

Can be bought at almost any store. Just read the specs and be sure tobuy the one that has heavy sturdy rails. In other words don't buy the cheap ones!

Lowes, Home Depo carry them also.

This is the wider deeper pad one with more sturdier rails

Don't worry about the purple color, it comes in green too! :B
  • Our Born Free Class C was similarly designed to accommodate my wife's disabilities, including a box-mounted Thetford macerator & gate valves mounted at heights that she can reach.

We found a compartment on the driver's side rear, directly above the water heater and providing access to the drains & hot water bypass. That space is empty, and afforded us a place to store not only the supplied 21' coiled hose, but also an additional 21' extension hose.

(We also carry a 3' long standard sewer hose stored in its own tube, in case we need to bypass the macerator.)

One tip - many people store their sewer hoses in a plastic bin, to prevent any leakage within the storage compartment. Also, the Thetford sewer adapter has a cap on the drain side (1/2" - 3/4" garden hose connection).

The kneeler is a great idea; I work from a low-height folding chair, for the same purpose.

    Good luck & keep traveling.
  • I have thought of a macerator because I have one on my Roadtrek but most C have their tanks below the floor. I guess I may have to look at a Small A.
  • We have a 2018 Sunseeker 2290S that has the sewer connection enclosed in a compartment that would allow you to leave the hose connected similar to those in the large class A coaches.
