ClassC cruising

Been out from Tucson for 18 days of waaaay too much fun. Tucson to Ve
gas. To Hawthorne NV. to Lassen Natl Park. On down to Nevada City to my friends 6acres in PARADISE, Deer Creek runs through his property, lots of gold still to had and yes we found some. Spent 11 days there with full hookups.

Headed over to Fort Bragg - awesome road from Willets to Bragg, even better road from Bragg up highway one to Legget - leave you Class A's, large C's and fivers back in the CG, no place for large rig. Our 24'C did just fine, still getting 10 mpg cruising at 60. Currently at Cape Blanco SP, probably the nicest SP CG we have ever seen. Lots of Orgeon coast ahead and then we head east.

Trips like this are why we own our rig.

  • We have just had ours for 6 weeks, (we bought a 2012 with 6,200 miles on it), last three on this trip. Everything has performed flawlessly. If there is a better quality C out there I sure would like to see it. We came from Burns Oregon this morning and are currenty in Sun Valley Idaho. Today,as usual we averaged 10 mpg and it cruised smooth and steady up some serious mountains without complaint. It is still new to us but I cannot recommend Nexus highly enough. Great coach! :B
  • I visited the Nexus guys in Hershey. I'm really impressed with how straight forward they are and also impressed with what seems like a quality motorhome. I am considering buying a new Nexus Viper 24V. How long have you had your Nexus and did you have many warranty issues right away?

Yes we just got our Nexus Phantom 23 P which is 24' and change and we love it.

Congrats .... enjoy your new rig!!

Boy, that 23P sure comes with a large propane furnace in it - great for max comfort in cold temps and for less furnace run time to keep the noise down in moderate temps.

You betcha! We use it every morning to warm up the coach, the thermostat is right above our bed. About 5 to ten minutes of run time(it has four vents all mountd 6" off the floor), brings it up to 72+. The ac will turn it into meatlocker in about the same amount of time, Nexus really does a nice job when it comes to quality components.

  • Yes we just got our Nexus Phantom 23 P which is 24' and change and we love it. Guess I need to update my profile as the TT and truck are gone. We are currently right on the McKenzie River east of Eugene Oregon after having done seversl days on the coast. Oregon is amazing and gas is back down to 3.55.

Some rigs are just too large to safely navigate the really tight, often most beautiful roads. That is the price you pay for all of the amenities thst come with a big rig. Ifyou cannot keep it between the lines you have no business on that road. Having come around a tight blind curve to find half of my lane full of Class A tends to get your attention. :C

Reading your profile I'm a bit confused, as I don't see that you own a Class C ... is your profile out of date or am I not reading it correctly?

If you now have a small Class C ... what is your rig?

P.S. We oftimes windup taking our 24 foot Class C to a lot of small, out-of-the-way, and hard-to-maneuver-in campsites where I wouldn't want to take anything larger or a towable of any kind.
  • Sounds like a great trip. Hope we can get back out there some day.
