Clean Glass

I have been washing our vehicles for over 55 years and I have yet found a product that cleans the glass. I generally use the standard Windex and paper towels and in the shade the glass looks good but take it out in the sun and the glass has streaks and smudges and generally a mess this goes for the moterhome, the boats and the cars and truck. So what do you guys use to get perfect window glass?

  • Invisible Glass. I use a lint-free cotton towel. Try it inside and out, you will be amazed.

    Ed Manifold,
You took all the words, word for word, out of my mouth. I was going to write the same exact thread. I too have been washing, waxing and cleaning and our vehicles, motorhomes, trucks, boats and more for years and years and, I too, have tried a few dozen window cleaners and, like you, I find that in the sun, what was a clean, perfect window in the shade, is streaked etc.

I used to use newspapers and, other kinds of cleaners but, I'm still on the search. I actually have used Kit car wax on the motorhome windshield, inside and out and that's provided the best results so far.

  • I've used many products over the years including Windex, Stoners, Invisible Glass and Sprayaway, but lately I've been trying Zep products because they all seem to work well. Zep has a heavy duty spray windshield cleaner that works really well.

When I clean my windshield while on the road, I use a small nylon scrub pad to clean the bugs off as I spray on window cleaner. Once the bugs are off, I clean one more time with the spray cleaner.

If I have a really problem window, I will use newspaper to dry with. The newspaper is the best, just can be a pain.
  • I clean with Windex then follow up with 'Invisible Glass'. Great stuff!!!! No streaks!!

  • I mix up a homemade solution that works for all surfaces...water, distilled vinegar and a few drops of liquid dish detergent (Ivory clear works best). You can use alcohol in the mix but I prefer to leave it out. I use a cotton cloth to wipe.
  • Same here. Washed my TV today. Looked great until I started driving into the sun. The windshield was badly streaked. I used Windex and cotton towels.
