In writing, tire manufacturers recommend mild soap and water and soft brush.
They certainly are not going to invest their money in "testing" aftermarket products and declaring them OK/not OK.
The all do caution AGAINST two things: Any product that contains any petroleum products or any product that contains silicone.
X-2, Michelin Tires website Quality Care for tires says to use only warm soapy water and a soft bristle brush. It goes on to say that the warm soapy water helps to protect the sidewalls by removing road grime from your tires. I use Aerospace #303 on the fiberglass of my coach, but not on my tires even though it is a water based product.
