Yeah, tell your neighbors to please not use anything that does not break-down in water.
We have two homes on a septic system and they work quite well. (Not to be graphic) We have to tell guests to put only the 'three P's' in the tank and nothing else (pee, poop and paper).
We use Rid-Ex once a month to keep the enzymes in check.
Once, when one of the houses were going through a remodel, the painter cleaned his brushes in the utility sink in the laundry room with turpentine. It killed the enzyme's in the tank and the 3,000 gallon tank filled up and had to be pumped out. Eighteen years after that, never another problem if you treat'm right.
