Coach layouts

If you've been looking around new/used really makes no difference, you come to one simple truth. Motorhomes and the floor plans for them are built by crazy people. It's true Doug, they are people who flunked out of engineering school and were offered the only job available to them. You guessed it, designing a motorhome. A strong case can also be made for the owners of these motorhome companies but lets just stay with the engineers for now!

Your observation is correct, kitchen on the patio side, dinette on the drivers side and a couch on both sides. This is also where physicians and surgeons are in cahoots with the engineers because where are the TV's? You got it, one is on the bathroom end of the coach and one is above the dash! No matter the one you choose your neck is going to suffer and off to the doctors you go!

Have you also noticed on the plans where the dinette is on the patio side more times than not its also a bunkhouse plan? Crazy people I tell you, nothin but crazy people! Lets not even get into the people who buy them!

La Mesa RV is advertising a Winnebago RV, Adventurer Model #WFJ 37 F, and it has all the curbside features you were asking about.

Simple economics. It is cheaper and easier to build a slide with the dinette and/or couch than a slide with kitchen (sink, stove, fridge, water lines, drain lines, gas lines). Since most RVs have their main slide on the streetside (away from your campsite), then accordingly many (most?) will have the dinette/seating on that side with the more complex kitchen on the curb side.

My current A is a split; has half the kitchen (sink & stove, but not fridge) and the dinette in the streetside slide, with the fridge and a couch (opposite the dinette) on the fixed curbside.

They are far from rare or hard to find... Aside from all the units listed above, our 42' Tuscany has curbside dining area.

For the 2010 to 2012(?) FLeetwood Encounters/Storms had the dinette on the curbside and kitchen/sofa were street-side. After 2012, they swapped the dinette and sofa, as a result it took about a foot of counter space away. We purposely choose the older model because, as most of you know, counter space is at a premium in just about all RVs, especially shorter models like ours which is less than 32' long.

We have, and prefer curb side dinette also. Our kitchen is in a slide on the drivers side. Frig is not in a slide. These will be features we look for if/when we replace this coach.

Both of our coaches have/had the street side dinette. It really doesn't make much difference to me. Actually, I don't recall in 10 yrs. that I had a view of someone's sewer hose at the driver's side. Since we sit up high, I really never noticed it.

On our current coach, we have the 'J-booth' dinette on the driver's side where we are facing the kitchen while we are eating as our backs are to the window. If one of us are sitting in the 'J' part of the dinette, we are facing forward. We also have large windows so I can see plenty out towards the patio if I look that way.

What's more important is if you are sitting at your patio and you see the sewer connection of your neighbor as you are at 'eye' level. That would be more irritating to me as, if you think about it, we really do have sewer connections on both sides of coaches to look at.

really solely for floor plan??
That seems odd to me.I look at floor plan, make, engine size,options, colour, over all condition, mileage, pricing to list but a few and they all have too suit me before buying

My Ambassador has a curb side booth and a large window to look out. My door is next to it so when I grill out, I can bring the steaks in and set them on the table. I chose the coach solely for the floor plan that works for us. The fact that its a pusher was just"icing on the cake"

Our Sahara has a curbside table. No slides on this year.
