I think what you are getting at is there is little difference in the Bones of the MH. Most MH manufactures actually make very little of what they sell. They don't make engines or drive train or actuators or windows. All of those things are made by someone else. If that supplier goes out of business there will be another supplier that stays in business. Doors panel and fiberglass and their molds must be fabricated. Even a outfit like AC likely doesn't keep the molds for 20 years. There are cabinet makers to replace them if needed.
If you are buying for the long haul, then thats why I think you should start with the chassis. Pick a stiff chassis, it will take care of you and the contents better. Then find a floor plan you like. Never mind the orange shag carpet…..that can be fixed. :D
