Coachman Freelander 21 QB

Never had a Class C. I'm no expert so think this unit is a Class C. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Looked at the new 2014 jobs. This one is based on a Chevy cab and chassis.

Are they good, reliable, quality units ?

What kind of maintenance can one expect...things to do, approx. costs ?

What MPG could we expect cruising at 60-65 mph ?

Anyone have experience with this brand and/or model ?

Looking at trips across western Canada/States....Rockies....Route 66, Pacific Coast from California to B.C..

Just the two or us, my wife and myself. I'm in my mid 60's, she's in her late 50's.

Thanks for advice and comments.

  • With the 2014 Chevy at 60-65 MPH you can expect 10+ MPG. We have almost the same rig. One thing that we didn't really pick up on when we were looking at them is that most of the interior cabinets require either crawling on the bed or are hard to reach if you are less than 6' tall.
  • It is indeed a class C. DW and I have started "window shopping" motorhomes in that size as we're thinking of downsizing from 32' class C for maneuverability since we don't tow a car (toad). With a rig that size you give up (or compromise) on several issues - corner bed, less storage, smaller galley and only 1 of dinette/couch (with dinette seeming to be most popular).

The Chevy cab has more leg room, especially on passenger side, than the Ford cab.

    Good luck in your search...
