We hsve made the decision to buy a 2014 Coachmen Mirada 35BH. It is on a Ford chassis with the V10 Triton engine. The GVWR of the coach is 22,000 pounds and the GCWR is 26,000 pounds with a 5k hitch. I have two questions for the group:
1) I believe this tells me that the the total weight of the TOAD with fuel and anything inside it can only be 4,000 pounds. We wsnt to purchase a Honda CR-V that weighs 4,503 pounds. So, even though the hitch will handle 5K it seems like we might be s little over on the GCWR. The dealer has said the coach is rated to tow 5,000 pounds. Please let me know your thoughts.
no, you are limited to 4,000 lbs. only if you load the motorhome up to it's GVWR. you can borrow some of that weight to use on your toad.
other issues may be involved however.

You have every responsibility to tow what your hitch and unit are rated based on the weights. Anything otherwise is plain foolish. Now whether it will tow the CRV or not, I think it will. Based on what I can find the CRV does not weigh 4500# as the OP stated but 3500# which puts it in the towable range. Those ratings aren’t made up or theory or overkill, they are real numbers.
