On the flip side, just because a company is still in business does not necessarily mean they will continue to supply parts for old products.
I have a friend who, a few years ago, managed to get a hole in the oil pan of her then eight year old Chevy Aveo. It turned out to be rather a big headache to get it fixed, as neither GM nor any aftermarket company had oil pans for sale. Eventually she managed to find a junkyard in Tennessee (I think) that had one and get it shipped to Vermont to get her car repaired.
