Bruce pretty much hit on all the reasons why we're switching from a 5er to a MH. As mentioned, there are tons of variables, but in our case... our 2008 5er and 2000 F250 are roughly equal in value to the 2004/5 MH we have been looking at. We're going to keep the truck for now (just not worth it for us to get rid of something which has been so reliable and useful) and replace my daily driver car with something Toad-able.
On the plus side I'll get more basement storage, the ability to bring a small car for in-town trips, more solid chassis (much less "shake" when camping from what I've noticed)....
Insurance is going to be more, it's a vehicle so you have to have liability etc but reasonable - certainly not stopping me from making the switch.
I didn't catch if you were looking new or used. I found that there is no such thing as a cheap truck anymore. Everything holds their value, even more so a diesel 3/4ton and up. OTOH MH depreciate faster, esp the gassers. Comparing everything at about 3-4 years old I think you can land a nice MH compared to a TT and what you'd have to pay for a good truck to pull it.
My 2 cents! Good luck...
