Personally, I would find a good manufacturer and THEN choose the floorplan from what it has to offer. Why buy junk just because you like the floorplan?
As to why retirees get a bigger RV....perhaps because they have more time to travel or spend the winter season south or a summer season north. They're living in it a longer period of time.
