I did own Class A for over 20 years and the only time when I had a toad was when I was pulling pickup with main purpose of carrying PWC on it.
We seldom would stay in one place for longer than 3 days, so all our driving was done by motorhome.
When in Mexico, I park the beast on the beach and had small trail bike to explore neighborhood and get supplies.
Never made much sense to me to tow a toad 2000 miles to use it for 20.
Fulltimers sitting in one place for months are another story, but this is where trailers and 5th wheels fit perfectly.
That reminds me a rally years ago when one of female members had her 5th wheel park at the rally 300 miles from home, while she was driving minivan.
