My current situation is the former; when I retire it'll be the latter.
X2 - this is my exact situation as well. Plus, I must have a truck for my work so it just makes sense to get use that engine/tranny/etc. to pull the trailer rather than paying for and maintaining another.
I've gone back and forth over the years (and probably will several more times) between 5th wheel and DP. My main reason for the DP is my wife hates riding in the car/truck and I'm hoping the class A will be more to her liking.
If we plan to stay put for extended periods and/or I still have a good truck I may go 5th wheel. Something about rolling around in a DP sure seems nice though.
There's also a factor of how much I have to ultimately spend since I'll admit the DP would likely be more $$ in the end.
