As far as length comparisons go, there's only about 2-1/2 feet at the front of our 34' coach that's not useable living space. The driver and passenger seats swivel to become general seating when parked. Add in the extensive "basement" storage, and the Class A comes out well ahead of the TT for fulltiming "livability". I do agree though, that for an RV'ing lifestyle with long term stops, a 5'ver or TT likely makes more sense if you don't mind using the tow vehicle as your daily driver.
I wouldn't say it's unusable space. Sure, you can't dance there but the dash serves as a table top to hold numerous things, foot wells are storage and as you said the seats spin around for seating. We go on the cheap so our engine hump is also our TV stand when it's raining outside and we want to watch a movie.
It's an interesting conversation, that's for sure. I don't think you can just look at cost alone. You have to look at what's important to YOU, not just some people on a forum. All this talk about slides. I hate slides. I dread having to upgrade from our 1990 Triple E Class A. I don't think there is any newer units without slides. Our MH is for camping. I love getting walking into our MH and feeling cozy. I feel like I'm camping.
There are so many different viewpoints when it comes to cost. Start by looking at what you want. I want, no slides. I want a big freakin' window in front of me when driving down the road. I LOVE pulling to a rest stop, swiveling my chair around and resting my feet on the engine hump while the wife grabs snacks. I like backing into a site and not having to deal with jackknifing. I love driving down the road, not feeling like I'm cooped up in a car.
Okay, I can go for a long time on this. For us, the different costs between MH or TT don't mean squat. We need to have a MH because it's what makes us feel the best when we're on vacation. And really, re-energizing yourself and feeling good is what matters when you take your MH or TT to get away.
Holy Crap, I will now leave this soap box alone. No offence to anyone intended and it's not directed at anyone. Find what you enjoy and what satisfies YOUR needs.
Cheers
