That's all well and good, Raist11, and the points you mention are valid for someone who want's to use their rig to vacation in a few weeks a year, but the OP wants to live in his full-time. It will be their sole dwelling, so while you may like the cozy feeling of a narrow, slideless MH occasionally, I think it would soon become cramped in short order if you were to actually live in it 24/7, 365 days a year.
Fulltimers need a toad, as you don't want to unhook your home and drive it to the grocery store or strip mall every time you want to go shopping, grab a burger, get a haircut, etc.. Backing-up a toad is even harder than a fiver, as those short toads hidden behind a big MH are very difficult to back up straight - longer trailers are much easier.
Another point that was not mentioned is if you have to put your MH in the shop to get engine or drive train repaired, you will be without your home and forced to experience the inconvenience and expense of living out of a Motel till your MH is repaired. With a TT of fiver you are not put out of your home when your TV needs repair, especially if have a back-up transportation plan like we do - a couple of motorbikes, so we are never stranded if the truck is in the shop for a few days.
The title of the OP's post is about comparing costs, so the question is important to him, as he is obviously considering both prospects with the decision ringing on affordability and practicality for its intended use, which is a mobile residence.
